Biography

Ali Khalfallah, Associate Professor at the department of mechanical engineering of the higher institute of applied sciences and Technology at the University of Sousse in Tunisia (DME-UST). Currently, he is a Contracted senior researcher at the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of the University of Coimbra (FCTUC). From 2017 up to 2019, he was the Head of the department of mechanical engineering (DME-UST). He received in 2004 his Ph.D. from the University of El-Manar in Tunisia and a specific Ph.D. recognition in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Coimbra in Portugal. In 2015, he received a diploma of the “Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches - HDR” (docent thesis) in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Sousse in Tunisia. His research interests are related to the mechanical modeling and numerical methods for the simulation of metal forming processes, computational mechanics, shape optimization, inverse and direct parameter identification of constitutive models. He is author or co-author of many publications (a book, chapters of books, papers in international journals, conferences, and patent) in subjects related to his research activities. He has supervised Ph.D. and master students, on subjects related to his research interests.

He has also taught many courses related to solid mechanics, mechanics and strength of materials, selection of materials, numerical methods and applied mathematics for solid mechanics, the technology of metal forming processes, Finite element method for numerical simulation of metal forming for both undergraduate and graduate students.

Dr. Ali Khalfallah is the potential reviewer of several prestigious journals published by Elsevier, Emerald, IOP Publishing, SAGE, ASTM International editorial groups, national and international conferences (COTUME, CMSM, ICAMEM, Global Conference on Materials Science and Engineering, International Conference on Material Strength and Applied Mechanics) and an editorial board member of SCIREA Journal of Mechanical Engineering.
